The course in Economic Geopolitics is part of the core curriculum of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Philosophy. The course aims to present students, from a historical perspective, with the most significant contemporary phenomena of economic and social integration across different regions of the world, with a particular focus on development cooperation, the formation of regional trade agreements, and the regions of Latin America, the Mediterranean, and the Far East. The goal is thus to equip students with the ability to critically analyze and interpret the various topics covered, providing them with the tools to understand the research involved in each analyzed topic. Students will have acquired:
- Advanced ability to interpret the macro political and economic phenomena of the main geographic areas analyzed;
- Advanced comparative analysis skills in relation to the topics covered in the course;
- Research methodology skills.
- Written presentation and oral defense of a research paper in Italian and a foreign language of the student’s choice.

Programma

The course aims to introduce students, in a historical perspective, to the most important contemporary phenomena of economic and social integration between the different areas of the world. Particular attention will be given to the development cooperation and regional trade arrangements in Latin America, Mediterranean and Far East.
Students are expected to analyse, understand, interpret and critically evaluate the themes analysed giving them the essential tools to overall comprehend the research work associated to each theme.

Students are expected to acquire the following skills:
- Advanced capability to overall interpret political and economic macro-phenomenon of the main geographical areas analysed.
- Advanced capability of benchmarking regarding the themes analysed
- Research methodology capabilities.
- Written essay and oral exposure (in Italian and in a foreign language chosen).


Testi Adottati

Course materials to be studied will be signaled during the course; written presentation and oral exposition of a paper are expected to explore a theme of the course.
Non-attending students will prepare the exam on texts to be agreed with the lecturer

Attendance is not mandatory but is strongly recommended.

Modalità Valutazione

Verification of learning takes place through individual writing of a paper pertaining to one or more topics analyzed in class.
