Programma

During the lessons, we will proceed with the linguistic and stylistic reading and analysis of some works by Primo Levi (“Se questo è un uomo”, “La tregua”, “Il sistema periodico” e la” Chiave a stella”). The observation of the lexical, morphological, syntactic, and textual choices made by the author will be functional to a deeper understanding of the work of one of the most important Italian authors of the twentieth century, but also to the construction of a model for analyzing literary Italian, which will also make use of comparisons with other authors of the second half of the twentieth century.

Students are required to submit a 15-page paper on a topic agreed with the lecturer. The examination is passed after the oral interview, which will cover the topics covered in the course. The following will be assessed: knowledge of the topics addressed, ability to identify and contextualise linguistic data, clarity and accuracy of exposition (both written and oral).
