The course aims to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of various theoretical and methodological aspects of Italian linguistics and the most important tools of the discipline, so that they can acquire a thorough preparation in the main fields of linguistic research

Programma

During the lessons, we will proceed with the linguistic and stylistic reading and analysis of some works by Primo Levi (“Se questo è un uomo”, “La tregua”, “Il sistema periodico” e la” Chiave a stella”). The observation of the lexical, morphological, syntactic, and textual choices made by the author will be functional to a deeper understanding of the work of one of the most important Italian authors of the twentieth century, but also to the construction of a model for analyzing literary Italian, which will also make use of comparisons with other authors of the second half of the twentieth century.

Modalità Valutazione

Students are required to submit a 15-page paper on a topic agreed with the lecturer. The examination is passed after the oral interview, which will cover the topics addressed in the course. The following will be assessed: knowledge of the topics covered, ability to identify and contextualise linguistic data, clarity and accuracy of presentation (both in writing and orally).
