Programma

The goal of the course is to give students a comprehensive understanding of the main aspects of European Union integration. The course is articulated into two parts: the first analyzes the general framework of the European Union's legal order, while the second focuses on developments in the internal market. A comprehensive analysis of the leading cases in the ECJ will be integrated into both parts.

Modalità Erogazione

Lessons will be held in person during the second semester (March - May) for 72 hours of frontal teaching.

Modalità Frequenza

For attending students there is a specific learning path that includes active involvement in group work and presentation of cases covered by the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice.

Modalità Valutazione

The exam involves an oral interview. Students should demonstrate their knowledge of the program content and their capacity for analyzing the EU's supranational legal system and the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice. All the topics covered in the handbooks will be the focus of the questions. The evaluation considers the following elements: understanding of the questions formulated, ability to synthesize, clarity, use of an appropriate vocabulary, and critical ability to analyze the theoretical presuppositions underlying the issues addressed. The candidate's capacity to think will be highly valued. Attending students who have not exceeded the number of five absences in the entire educational semester (March-May) will be able to choose to carry out a written exercise which will take place in the first week of May concerning the program carried out in class. The exercise will be evaluated in order to monitor the individual learning path. Only in the event of a fully positive outcome will the student be able to complete the exam on the remaining part of the program in the exam sessions of the summer session (June, July).

Programma

The EU Law course is basically divided into two parts. The general part covers the process of European integration, the Union's spheres of action, the institutional framework, sources of law, the system of jurisdictional guarantees, the relationship between Union law and domestic law.
The second, special part regards the essentials of internal market law, i.e. the concept of the internal market, the free movement of goods, the free movement of persons, the right of establishment and the freedom to provide services.
