The course will focus on Cicero's Letters to Friends, which will be examined as a source for reconstructing the political, social and institutional history of the late Roman Republic.

The exam is an interview, during which the candidate will be asked to comment on the texts included in the exam programme. The candidate's knowledge of Latin historiography as a whole will also be assessed.
