Programma

The course is meant to be an introduction to the history, culture and religion of ancient Egypt and ancient Near East, from the birth of urban civilization and the emergence of writing to the encounter with the classical world. The course will trace a historical background and will discuss major themes such as ideology and the representation of power, the relationship with the divine world, international diplomacy, the search for knowledge and meaning, and daily life.
